The Adkisons {My Buddy & Me}

If you're an animal lover like me, chances are you have a million photos of your favorite furry friend(s).  But how many of those photos are you actually in?  To help you folks out, this month I am running the My Buddy & Me special, where animal lovers and their pets (or should I say "pets and their humans"?) could spend a little time together in front of my lens.

What's so cool about this special is that I'm donating 100% of the proceeds so that a recently adopted shelter doggie named Trax can get his lifesaving heartworm treatment!

That's where the Adkison family comes into play.  Meet Lindsey and Josh and their four-legged kids, Byron and Keats.  (Can you tell someone was a Lit major?)  The four of them were the first to quickly sign up for their My Buddy & Me session.  Despite a few tiny rain drops and a few tiny gnats, we had a wonderful time during their session this afternoon, which was held all around Downtown Brunswick.  Byron and Keats were on their best behavior, as were their humans, and I was able to capture a ton of beautiful moments.  So without further ado, I give you the Adkison family's sneak peek!

Thanks, Adkison family, for helping to save Trax's life!

Chuck Norman - Bodybuilder

Meet Chuck Norman.  Chuck is a 48-year-old bodybuilder who has been competing in the sport for the past 3 years.  Yeah, you read that right - he is 48 years old.  Chuck is in amazing shape, and I was honored to have had to opportunity to photograph him earlier in the week.

Chuck will be competing for his Pro card this Saturday in Savannah.  He is a natural, and I know he is going to be successful this weekend.

By the way...did I mention Chuck is 48 years old?  Just checking.

Disclaimer: Ladies, these photos are not for the faint of heart.  :)

Photography, Shelter Dogs...and Me!

Thank you to reporter Lindsey Adkison, for spotlighting me in today's edition of The Brunswick News!  I am incredibly honored with your kind words!

For those of you who are thinking of volunteering in your community but just haven't made the effort to take the first step...  Giving back ROCKS!  And in this case, saves lives!  Nothing but a win-win situation there.  Go for it!

Favorite Face of February

Although her face is not a human one, therefore eliminating me from the competition going on at the I Heart Faces website, Candy was my favorite face of February.  Any guesses as to why?  :)

I see faces like Candy's every week at the shelter where I volunteer as dog photog.  I thought I'd post Candy's sweet little (and I mean little) face on my blog for two reasons - first, to remind you that adoption should be your only option, and also to hopefully inspire YOU to donate some of your free time to a local shelter in your area.  Whether it be photographer, dog walker, or cat petting person, your time couldn't be better spent by giving back to the ones who could use your help the most.  It will change your life...and their lives, too.  :)

Super Dolphin...Faster Than A Speeding Mullet!

This year marked my second year photographing the Super Dolphin Day Races on Saint Simons Island, and it was my first year serving as sole photographer.  And what a gorgeous day it was!  Bright and early at 7:30am was the 10K.  It was exciting to watch everyone stretch and mentally prepare for the race ahead.  At 9:00am was the 1 mile Fun Run...and fun it was!  This is definitely my favorite race of the day to photograph.  When the kids come in for the final stretch, their faces display such intense determination, it's just too precious.  The last race of the day began at 10:30 - the 5K.  And if you can believe it, there were many people who ran all three!
If you'd like to see more than 1,000 images from this wonderful event, hop on over the Super Dolphin website and click on the Jennifer Leigh Photography link.  Happy viewing...and see you next year!

Anything But A Face

This week's photo challenge at I Heart Faces is "Anything But A Face," and I have just the perfect image!  Shonda approached me recently about photographing Dearl and her for their announcement cards.  Announcement about what, you may ask?  A little bundle of joy is growing...  Of the whole shoot, this was the only image I had planned...and it was the one she picked for the announcements.  It makes my heart smile.  :)
